COLUMBUS, OH – A repentant Brandon Dubinsky has admitted he made mistakes in Friday's game against Pittsburgh that got him a one game suspension.

The forward spoke out on Sunday, saying the next time he breaks a stick over any part of Sidney Crosby's prone body on the ice, it won't be with one of his favourite sticks.

"During my suspension I had time to think about my actions," he said. "I asked myself a lot of hard questions, and the one I kept coming back to was why I used my favourite stick to do it."

"Next time this happens I won't be wasting a scoring stick trying to break Sid's neck."

Columbus head coach John Tortorella was supportive of his player.

"I think it's great that he's been able to come around and see the shortcomings of his actions in this way," he said.

"The next time we play those whining sissies, I'm sure we'll see a different Dubi."

The Blue Jackets' next game against the Penguins is on December 21.
