LAKE PLACID, NY – Auston Matthews revealed today why he chose to sign with Swiss club ZSC Lions on Friday.

The 17-year-old, projected to go first overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has his sights set on being the first NHL player to open up a Swiss bank account.

"At first, I thought they weren't even real – just something cool you heard about in the movies," Matthews said.

"Once I learned that they are, I got to thinking about how in this day and age, guys are breaking all kinds of records, and you really need to think outside of the box to make a name for yourself and set some of your own."

"So I'm channeling my inner venture capitalist and doing something that no NHLer has done before."
