CHICAGO, IL – Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman announced that head coach Joel Quenneville would be a healthy scratch against Toronto on Wednesday.

The decision comes amidst a three-game losing streak that sees the team languishing at the bottom of the Central division.

"I feel like it's time for a good shakeup among the coaching staff," Bowman told reporters at morning skate. "I just haven’t seen enough of a spark on the bench lately."

"I expect guys like Q to be leading from the front and hurling some really deadly insults at the officials, but that hasn't been happening nearly enough, and it reflects in our performance on the ice."

Bowman went on to say that he's yet to decide if the benching will go beyond Wednesday's game.

The decision has ignited rumours about the bench boss being traded to a team in the eastern conference, but Quenneville isn’t concerned about that.

"I just need to get back to my game and stay focused," he said on Wednesday morning. "I'll come in to tomorrow's practice with a fresh whistle ready to go."

"I feel like my insults have been pretty good recently, but Stan believes I've relied too much on the old material and need to get more creative with it. I'll be ready to go before our game against Detroit."

Bowman said he's asked his coach to go back and watch some tape from the "good old days" where grabbing his crotch on the bench was one of many moves that excited his players and fans.
