MONTREAL, QC – Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien has been fired from his part-time job as manager at a Burger King restaurant in downtown Montreal, The Elbow has learned.

According to a source in the Habs' organization, Therrien – who is also balancing a part-time job as head coach of the Canadiens – was told of the layoff late last night.

"As you can imagine, he's not happy," the anonymous source said.

"He insists that he did everything he needed to, despite showing up late to half of his shifts and blaming his co-workers for problems he created."

Habs general manager Marc Bergevin came out in defence of his coach on Saturday, saying that firing him was the wrong decision.

"Maybe those working under him should work a little harder? If he didn't have people call in sick so often, we wouldn't be having this conversation."

Therrien was not available for comment at press time.
