EDMONTON, AB – In a stunning revelation, Edmonton Oilers fan Simon Lamb has admitted that the hype surrounding the team may be a little premature.

Despite growing pressure from family, friends, the media, and basically every single person in the city, Lamb has stood resolute in the face of outworldly optimism surrounding the Oilers.

Lamb, a long-time season ticket holder, believes that people are getting a little carried away after seeing Connor McDavid score some goals on one of the Subban brothers in a glorified training session last week.

"I really don't see the team gelling as well as people are expecting this season," Lamb said.

"It's going to take a few years of good NHL experience for these kids and some serious help on defence before we can legitimately compete for the playoffs."

"Anyone who tells you anything different is dreaming."

At press time, it is reported that everyone he gave his opinion to nodded slowly while looking at the floor before noticing a friend over there.

He was last seen talking to bedridden pensioners at his local retirement home.
