GLENDALE, AZ – Joining his new teammates on the ice at Gila River Arena for the first time on Friday, John Scott was reportedly "over the moon" to find out that he could still stand up on his skates without the assistance of the top of the boards.

In one quick moment, Scott went from being timid and apprehensive to elated and relieved.

"Look Dave, I can do it!" he was heard shouting to head coach Dave Tippett, before taking a couple of quicker, more ambitious strides and realizing his limitations.

According to teammate Joe Vitale, it was a skate that almost didn't happen.

"I was a little concerned for big John when he was putting on his skates before taking to the ice," Vitale said. "At first, he put his right foot into his left skate."

"Thankfully, one of our trainers was on hand to tap him on the shoulder and tie them up on the correct feet for him."

Scott expects to be top 10 in Coyotes scoring this season.
